The Cape

Kristina and I went down to the Cape Tuesday through Thursday morning and while poor Kristina woke up Wednesday morning, she was in a nice home being taken care of by my amazing cousin, on MJ's side, who is also such a nurturing mom! Lucky us, I was fine, but being fed and pampered even not being sick was amazing too. I spent the day with Halle, 7 almost 8, and Jo-Ellen touring around some docks, walking on the beach looking for seals (it was wicked windy), eating clam chowder and Fish tacos, shopping for cape cod jewelery and eating scallops- and watching movies with the girls! Loved it- thanks Jo! I am so coming back in the summer for some cute coast guard boys- per invitation by Jo!

Here I am with Halladay Rose! I left with her wanting to stow away in my car!! And here is poor old Molly in the background!

Providence People

Friday night, a bunch of people in my program celebrated the beginning of our winter break (most students are going to DC for meetings with organizations) so we finished the week with Karaoke at my place! Andressa, from the phillipines, brought her karaoke machine and we did a solid 4 hours of karaoke! Then Saturday I dropped my friend from Niger off at Logan so he could see his family and I took his car to Providence to meet Steph, a good friend from college who has spent Thanksgiving with my family, her preggers sister Deirdre and her momma at the Gillete Stadium in Foxboro, Mass where the baby momma was craving red robin's, so we had burgers at the lovely chain. Then I headed back to Providence where Steph's mom lives on the water to stay the night and prepare for the baby shower on Sunday at the old Spague New England Mansion to celebrate. Then after the shower I drove into Providence and met my supervisor/friend Audra at the Providence Place mall for some fun. It was a nice break from school not having to do any work and taking a fun weekend away. Driving home was fun too- I definitely got to the the 95 and 90 well....not by choice.

Google's Philanthropy

The Director of the Sustainable International Development Program I am in at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis is mentioned in this NYTimes article about Google's committment to Philanthropy, it's really interesting and very much related to my degree.

I am a Terrier!

So I am officially a Boston University enrolled student! The great thing about my program is that I can takes one class a semester at a consortium school which includes BU, Harvard, Tufts, Bentley, or MIT. It is awesome. I am taking a course in the School of Education called International Education Analysis of Policies and Practices with Professor Maryless Rambaud. So I am with all BU students and there are only 16 in the class which is a perfect size and I get to strictly talk about education (which I don't get specifically at Brandeis). I have my BU card and I have access to all their resources which I think is the best part! I am loving Boston!

ahhhh frustrating

So after i talked to julie about not coming (which is totally fine and understandable) i found out my BU class tonight is cancelled. Im all bummer- i totally finished all the readings. owell, i think, then it gives me all day to be productive- awesome. then i find out my appointment with career services is cancelled because they sent people home. then I have to get a signature from anyone in heller cara, ravi, doris, advisor, and NO ONE is here. So i am assuming since i dont see mary brooks in sight the practicum workshop, that is mandatory is cancelled too. so it was wayyy too pointless to come into school today. AND I AM NOT WEARING SWEATS, do you know how much effort that took this morning.
wow. I am from CA and I can handle the snow...but apparently other people can't with this emergency!!!

see you both tom.

- this was an email I sent this morning to two friends in my program....I just don't understand the way people deal with snow here...
